Dr. QIU Xiaoxin of Axera: “Universal Platform, Specialized Chips” Strategy Drives Inclusive Automotive Intelligence
Recently, the 3rd Infineon Automotive Conference & Exhibition (IACE) and the 12th Infineon Automotive Developer Conference were held in Suzhou. Themed “Smart Mobility Without Limits,” the event focused on the deep integration of chips and automotive, exploring the limitless possibilities of smart mobility.
As a key strategic partner of Infineon, Axera showcased multiple automotive AI chip products and solutions at the event, including the CMS model, an ADAS front-view integrated solution built on M55H that has achieved mass production; the latest-generation ADAS reference design platform built on M57; and an AI 4D millimeter-wave radar solution jointly demonstrated with partner RoboSense, which integrates Axera’s radar signal processing chips with Infineon’s core components.

Dr. QIU Xiaoxin, Founder and Chairperson of Axera, was invited to attend the event and deliver a keynote speech. She provided an in-depth analysis of the implementation pathway for creating cost-effective AI chips, building chip ecosystems, and driving inclusive development of smart vehicle.
In her speech, Dr. Qiu stated that Axera has consistently focused on building a platform AI chip company, committed to providing chip solutions for edge and terminal AI inference applications. The company adopts a “universal platform, specialized chips” strategy, that is, developing specialized chip solutions for different markets based on a universally applicable core technology platform.
In the smart vehicle sector, the company has achieved rapid growth. From the mass production launch of its first automotive-grade ADAS chip in June 2023 to the end of 2025, nearly one million chips are expected to be deployed in mass production vehicles. This milestone marks the company’s entry into a new phase where scaling and commercialization work in tandem.
Smart vehicle is considered the most representative edge application scenario in the era of “AI for all”. According to Dr. Qiu, the smart vehicle market can be divided into two major segments: the AEB market, driven by regulatory mandates, and the ADAS market. In the regulation-driven market, intelligent front-view integrated systems with AEB functionality serve as core products, with a global market scale estimated at 50-60 million vehicles annually. Meanwhile, the ADAS market, spanning L2+ to L4 levels, demonstrates extremely high growth potential in China. By 2025, global vehicle deployment in this market is expected to reach approximately 10 million units, with the Chinese market accounting for roughly 6.5 million units, positioning China as the global leader.
Dr. Qiu stated, “As a chip company, Axera must achieve scale while continuing to expand toward high-end and international markets.” Axera not only serves domestic automakers but also provides more and better options to the global market. Based on this strategic positioning, Axera has established deep partnerships with many global enterprises, such as Infineon, to explore international markets, embodying the principle of “In China, For Global.”

Axera showcased the AI 4D millimeter-wave radar solution developed with its partner Fvidar at the summit.
Axera has consistently emphasized proprietary core technology development, investing heavily in AI engines (AXNeutron mixed precision NPU) and visual perception technology (AXProton AI-ISP), dedicated to leveraging AI technology to enhance traditional perception signal processing performance. For example, the company achieves night-vision clarity in image processing and innovatively applies AI technology in millimeter-wave radar signal processing to reduce false detection rates by 95%.

Currently, Axera and Infineon are collaborating with Fvidar, combining Infineon’s radar transceiver chips with Axera’s radar processing chips to innovatively apply AI technology for radar signal noise reduction and other processing, creating more competitive intelligent perception solutions.
At the end of her speech, Dr. Qiu reaffirmed Axera’s consistent strategic positioning in the smart vehicle field: as a solid Tier 2 supplier, the company has always focused on chip design and technological innovation, committed to providing excellent chip platforms for partners. She stated, “The achievements we have made today wouldn’t have been possible without the trust and support of all our partners. Looking ahead, Axera aims to become a core driving force for sustainable development in the smart vehicle field, continuously creating long-term value.”
