Small Chips Running Large Models: The Core Technology Driving the Transformation of Edge-side Intelligence
At this year's WAIC exhibition, Axera showcased multiple latest technological achievements collectively for the first time, with numerous highlights. In the chip exhibition area, a series of AI chips were fully displayed, including intelligent application chips, coaxial HD TX/RX chips, analog-digital hybrid chips, and MCU chips, fully demonstrating Axera's product planning and layout capabilities covering low, medium, and high-end segments. The Axera chip family, featuring low power consumption, high energy efficiency ratio, and safety and reliability, has become the intelligent engine for edge-side products, making AI technology more economical, efficient, and environmentally friendly, and opening a new era of Inclusive AI.

Notably, in the large model exhibition area, the end-side small chip AX630C, supported by the language large model — Alibaba Cloud Tongyi Qianwen Qwen2.0, achieved smooth human-machine dialogue with 3.2T computing power, boasting an astonishing processing speed of more than 10 information units per second while maintaining power consumption below 1.5 watts. This "small" chip, with controllable cost, is suitable for hundred-yuan level devices, marking the arrival of the era of large model applications for Inclusive AI.
In addition, Axera also publicly released the AI pocket rocket dream team combination of AX650N + MiniCPM V2.0 for the first time. With smaller models and lower costs, it achieves stronger performance, enabling end-side devices to easily support AI models, realize image-to-text generation, identify fine details on high-definition images, and capture key information from massive amounts of data.

First of all, Axera's end-side small chips AX620Q, AX650N, and Axera-Pi Zero demonstrated excellent deep learning capabilities on the Depth Anything model, transforming ordinary 2D photos into a 3D vision, promoting a great leap in Extended Reality (XR) technology, and unlocking new ways to use AI. Secondly, the edge-side AI chip AX650N achieved synchronous and smooth processing of 32 channels of HD video and real-time AI analysis, with total board power consumption < 8W, showing the perfect combination of ultra-low power consumption and ultra-high performance. Furthermore, the AX650N chip combined with the CLIP model makes image search simple and intuitive — with just a sentence or a paragraph of text, matching items can be quickly found from massive images. The combination of AX650N and SAM image segmentation technology endows AI with automatic image retouching capabilities; without cumbersome manual annotation, Axera's image segmentation technology can quickly classify complex images, making image editing and analysis easy and effortless. In addition, the AX650N + OWL-ViT multimodal and multi-dimensional perception large model accurately completes unknown target detection and realizes automatic image labeling.

Axera's classic AxeraVision AI-ISP Mini Darkroom Laboratory, driven by the black light full-color camera powered by the AX650A small chip, demonstrated excellent image quality in extremely dark environments, restoring colors while retaining details, and presenting a visual miracle of turning night into day.
